AWeb80
Should I just get stock replacement Delco's or do any of you use the bosch platinum ones.... Will i notice any difference.....i've got like 40K on the plugs.... Should I look into iridium plugs? Price doesn't matter.
sdwhite
I've been told not to use Bosch Platinum 2's in my 3.1.
Prospeeder
AC delco rapid fires i hear are great plugs
digitaloutsider
Do NOT use Bosch platinum plugs period. Don't use anything Bosch if you can help it. Horrible products, and our waste spark system EATS up their platinum plugs. If you want a performance plug, look for Denso/NGK Iridiums. I'd really just stick with plain-jane AC Delco's in a stock 3100, though.
93CutlassSupreme
how many spark plug threads have we had lately? AC Delco plugs
DOHCRagtopguy
AC Rapidfire 8's are the ones I swear by. NO BOSCH PLATINUMS SHOULD BE USED!!
badassoldspower
Bosch is evil evil stuff I would go with some NGK's or Delcos
gp90se
since $ isnt an issue, go with NGK iridium tip plugs and let me know how the car feels after. we have run them in a couple cars and usually gives the car a little more kick, but havent put any milage on the cars yet. They are supposed 2 last 100k and increase mpg. but you really cant go wrong with delcos/ngks
IBuiltMine-o1oo
before i found this site, i put a set of bosch 2's in. the are fing sweet at first, but now i have noticed its taking an extra second to start the car...still runs good, and ive notice quite a difference in acceleration. My car had the original plugs in at 115k!! 2k on the bosch and time to replace! that was a waste of 30 bucks...
pwmin
regular delco's. it's easy to change them out, so i wouldnt go with platinums (iirc, rapidfires are Pt also). obiously, check your plugs for tracking and your wires for corrosion. AWeb80
I put the AC Delco Rapidfire 8's in and wow....can definatly feel a little more power top end....nothing huge but, its there....and throttle response and idle From ~2800-5000 RPM, there is more getup and go....of course I had ~40k miles on them, they still looked good, but it was only like $20 and a little time. pwmin
glad you had a good experience with them. havent tried them in my gp, but they didnt seem to work any better in my camaro's old
DOHCRagtopguy
Bingo-Another happy user of Rapidfire 8's. The first time that I put them in my LQ-1 I thought it was a brand new animal! The difference is amazing to me. Almost like the difference in my old 327 when I put in a Mallory dual-point distributor. Oops, I'm showing my age again.

mfewtrail
wow, i should look into those!! are the rapid fire 8's pricy? Use AC Delco R42LTS in your TGP(stock plugs...about $2 each from most parts stores) or if you can find a box of OLDER Rapid Fire 8's(you likely won't find these unless you search ebay for a while....), then they're fine to use(the newer ones are platinum) "The small round tip is the new platinum version of the rapidfire. The old version, which had many small ridges in a cone formation on the tip, did very well in the TGP's. HOwever, the small round tip besides being platinum, doesn't offer as many sharp edges for the spark to fire from. It was one of the unique things about the rapidfire, also how it was named. Now its just a platinum plug. " I took that from the TGP board(a quote from Chris A., the platinum rapidfires aren't recommended for TGP's). THe_DeTAiL3R
I'm gonna have to get some soon. Car was idling a bit choppy the other day, and it just doesn't have the power I think it should. I think I'll go with rapid Fires as well then. DOHCRagtopguy
I believe that Rapidfire 8's would be just fine in a 3.1. Yes the newer ones are platinum tipped. I can't honestly give an opinion on them I haven't used them yet. The Olds is due soon for a change, I'll let youse know. I recall paying around $4 apiece for mine. That was like 2 years ago.
