THe_DeTAiL3R Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 What kinda subs are those? (Pioneer I know) They look different than the cheaper Premier ones, which pound pretty good. They 10"? Quote
servoalt Posted October 6, 2005 Author Report Posted October 6, 2005 hehehe Those are the top secret, world famous, absolutely amazing...oh wait no I just woke up. They're only the best subs Pioneer makes. If you go under the SPL section, they're in there. Ummmmm here: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4061_153020683,00.html That's it. Mmmm they sound good. Errr, they're loud. Not cheap at 250 each. Quote
pwmin Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 the spl5000's are the best pioneer makes. lookin good. like those subs. Quote
servoalt Posted October 6, 2005 Author Report Posted October 6, 2005 What I meant was "best series" as C-BAD referrered to the "cheaper ones." All the SPL subs got a redesign. I had the 1500's but blew them so I got these Quote
Jcrow Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Did you try pointing the subs inside the car? I have been wondering if I should turn mine around to point into the trunk Quote
servoalt Posted October 6, 2005 Author Report Posted October 6, 2005 Nah I like the look of them facing backwards. Plus, I bet you could hear distortion a lot better if they face the inside of the car... Quote
jeremy Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 I've always found that the subs sound better when they are rear facing.....nice little setup Quote
slick Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 When you face your subs to the rear, you get the more boomy, deeper bass. Bad thing about it is, and if you really listen, it doesn't hit at the exact same time as the rest of the notes in the cars do. To 95% of the people that have subs, they don't know this, and truely don't care. Facing subs inside the cabin gives you more punchy bass, but a bit more quiet as well. Quote
servoalt Posted October 6, 2005 Author Report Posted October 6, 2005 I want loud That's why I got SPL subs and a Directed amp I betcha a pair of MB Quart or Diamond Audio subs with a JBL amp or something would sound nice facing the cabin. My personal favorites are Scosche, Jensen, Boss, Pyramid, Lightning Audio, Sony, and Durabrand!! There are sooo many more good ones though HAHAHA I love this emoticon, I just found it. Quote
slick Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 I want loud That's why I got SPL subs and a Directed amp OOooo... Directed amp!!! Now thats a nice amplifier. Which one did you go with??? Quote
servoalt Posted October 6, 2005 Author Report Posted October 6, 2005 I got the 750D. I might be getting another as my buddy is getting a 1500D because he got two of those Audiobahn Immortals that handle like 2000 something RMS. I bet everyone here he blows one in a week with that amp. But hell, I can get two of the 750Ds and turn the gain down to 1/4 and get some real clean bass. My amp is turned up 1/2 way with all bass EQs/boost on the stereo set flat. Quote
slick Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 I prefer not to turn my gains up more than 1/3 way, mainly because you start getting too much distortion. Sounds like you have a decent set-up going on. Time to get it metered(termlab mic ofcourse). Quote
servoalt Posted October 6, 2005 Author Report Posted October 6, 2005 What are you running? Pics or a link? Quote
Euro Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 nice setup...ive got mine pointed towards the interior..and i get a kick outta it when my friends get in not knowing i have a system...im waiting for some girls to come home from school..they'll freak but yeah, what amperage(sp) are those? ive got one listed in my sig and its supposedly at 1500 peak watts Quote
slick Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 What are you running? Pics or a link? Currently I am redo-ing my electrical system in my car, so nothing right now. But... I am working on a new enclosure for my car. Since I get an employee discount on Alpine, im picking up the Type r 12" and the MRD-605 monoblock amp. The amp puts out 100 watts rms more than the sub can handle (according to specs), so.... It should be interesting. The sub will be in a .85-.9 ft^3 sealed enclosure. Quote
servoalt Posted October 9, 2005 Author Report Posted October 9, 2005 Those subs are rated at 800rms and 2500 peak but my lil directed amp pushing 750rms and 1200 peak will make them DANCE. Actually they have about 3" of excursion when its blasting. It's really weird to see the surrounds on em "flat." Yeah the subs are overrated and the amp is underrated and that's not a good mix. Quote
