3.4L Timing Belt inspection - Heres what I saw?

Popped open the inspection cover, noticing that the bolts were mismatched, one 8mm and one 10mm. Hopefully a good sign the belt had been replaced once prior.

So the top of the cover had some rubber dust but no large strips and the amount of belt dust seemed pretty minimal, Of course I have no idea what I'm talking about as I've never owned a 3.4L car.

Car has 105K miles on her and is a '95.

Any insight on what a belt/inspection cover looks like of the belt is needing an immediate replacemnet?

I guess when I pick up the car sometime this week I'll post pics for the experts to give their 2cents on! :?

if its needing replaced it will show apparent wear of course, but it will have what looks like hairs fraying off and lots of dust. if its like that then it definitely needs a new t-belt

sometimes a worn belt will either be frayed or if you look hard enough you can see "metal" coming through the belt, like in the picture below that I borrowed from a different thread

are you talking about where the belt is worn on the edges so that the teeth stick out slightly?

It's for sale, let it be the next owner's problem. She should make the year, which is all I need.

i can top that, i think the optimum thing to use would be spaghetti noodles

Nice thing about spaghetti noodles is they can get wet...unlike paper mache which is toast after a few drops...and if it doesn't get wet, then it catches fire..thats not so good either. I personally am saving up used dental floss. Why throw this stuff away?
