Goodluck...

W/O hand tools? You should have like a 28-30mm layin around? I have a whole set. Makes life 1000x easier.

But becides that - I have no idea man...btt for ya!

Well, its at a yard, the car is in the air.

I have hand tools just no air tools. My hands don't have enough torque to move something like that off.

Jam a giant screwdriver through one of the "vents" in the rotor to keep it from spinning, then use a 30mm (IIRC - it's been a while) socket on a 1/2" drive ratchet with a huge extension bar on the end to bust the nut loose  ...

Oooooo - ok.

I've had to do that before - just get a 1/2" drive ratchet, a pipe to fit over the end, and the right size socket. When I had to do this I actucally stepped on it and just bounced until i felt it twist - and voila. It came right off...

Junkyard??? torch that sucker out!!!

If the brakes still work on the car, they are usually strong enough to hold the bearing still while you take the nut off.

Damn good point!

You can't bring a torch in, and we don't have one.

Axle nuts are 36mm, and good luck getting them off with both front wheels off the ground. It's gonna be hard to lock the hub up somehow.. with both sides in the air you're just gonna spin the other hub...

That's something else you can do.. find a hardware rental place around you to see if you can rent an electric impact gun. I don't know if you'll be able to get some extention cords out into the yard...

If you can find a way to lock the hubs, you'll be all set with just the 36mm socket and a 24" breaker bar.

Pipe wrench to Hold the Axle and a 24" breaker. Shouldn't be too hard. Put the pipe wrench on the axle. I've done that a couple of times and have had absolutely no problem. (If that's what you need to do)

I missed yours about unbolting the hub itself, but besides that, it takes a hell of a lot of torque to break that nut loose, and I can't picture how you easily wedge the hub/rotor/whatever in place using a screwdriver.

if you're trying to get the axle out and the hub is already unbolted, just jack up the A arm untill it's level then grab the hub with both hands and give it a sharp pull. The axle will pop right out.
