Black5spdZ Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 I already have a blower, it is the stock one off of my dads GTP. I also have an extra motor in the back of my garage. A friend of mines uncle builds sheet metal intakes and i was going to see if he could make one that would work well enough to replace the upper, i am not looking for a 12-second car that is what my Z28 is for. I think it would be a fun project to try and get it tuned and runnig halfway decent. Quote
pwmin Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 i'm sure this has been discussed before. not sure how to get it to work, but it would sure be killer if you did. surely someone will have some better input. do it. ps, look at 60degreev6.com if you dont belong. they should be able to give you good info Quote
OldSkoolGP Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 It has been discussed, and it would be cool to see. The big question comes in as to how much boost you can safely run. With OBDI, it's hard to tune for boost, but not impossible. Also, with 9.25:1 or 9.5:1 compression, depending on the transmission, how much boost can yoo safely run, and what's going to control it? The OBDI computer can't control the boost bypass valve. If you went OBDII with it, it'd make it much easier. Quote
Black5spdZ Posted September 28, 2005 Author Report Posted September 28, 2005 i am not planning on running much probably only 5-6 pounds or whatever it can handle without detonation. I might port the exhaust manis a little as well as the blower if it works to help keep intake temps down. The bypass has been my issue that i am trying to figure out, i dont know if i can make it work off of vacuum alone or not? Quote
Black5spdZ Posted September 29, 2005 Author Report Posted September 29, 2005 i looked at the bypass on my dads GTP and it is vacuum operated so i think i can make it work somehow, i need to figure out how i am going to route the belt as well and find a cowl hood because i am sure it isnt going to fit under the stocker. chadz34 Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Honestly man, if you get that sucker to work. I will shit on my neighbours lawn and blame it on there daughter. Quote
gp90se Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 I was looking at my motor, yank the plenum and fab up an intake connect to the supercharger 2 the lower intake. the p/s res might be in the way but that can be worked on. good luck. Quote
Black5spdZ Posted September 30, 2005 Author Report Posted September 30, 2005 yeah thats my plan is to leave the lower and make a sheet metal upper, i should have a better idea in a few weeks. ill keep you posted. Quote
gp90se Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 and draw everything out to spec Quote
digitaloutsider Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 I'm currently working on my M90-M112 design. I hope to have a working prototype by this December, if funds come through. Quote

The OBDI computer can't control the boost bypass valve. If you went OBDII with it, it'd make it much easier. As far as the bypass valve goes, I don't think the computer control is absolutely necessary unless you're running an unmodified OBD II setup. From what I understand, the computer only has some control over that ties in with the traction control and a few other functions(basically, it will limit boost when it detects too much wheelspin or limit boost in certain other situations). So, as long as you have the car tuned decently, and throw a vacuum line on the bypass valve, it should function properly. Quote
