Hey does anyone close to me know where ican get a mil eliminator? i got my exhaust done a week ago, and i gutted my cat, and my OBD-II associated check engine light has finally come on, but its screwing with my EGR, and making my car run like ass...it takes forever for it to start, and its not running as good. i had it scanned, and it pulled two codes. one for poor emissions, and one for egr. Does anyone up here flash chips? or have a simple MIL eliminator? thanks! SEAN!

what's an MIL eliminator?

as far as i know OBD-2 cars have a 2nd O2 sensor after the cat - do you still have that? i have no idea who could program anything OBD-2 around here. i am very very unfamiliar with anything OBD-2. DHP Powertuner maybe?

as far as deleting OBD-2, your 3100 could run on earlier OBD-1 3.1 MPFI wiring harness and ECM/MemCal. some wiring for sensors & coilpacks would have to be lengthened. the 3100 wouldn't be SFI anymore, but that would make burning your own chip much easier. however, you'd have to swap out your electronically controlled 4T60-E for a vacuum controlled 4T60 (or a Getrag 282 5-speed swap!). i'm not sure if it would be worth all that work. and datalogging could be a real headache.

i will datalogging and be burning my own EEPROMs with GMPCM software and a Willem EPROM programmer very soon. i have it easy with OBD-1.

They make o2 sims for the 3800, wonder if those would work on a 3100. Also I think they make a power tuner for the 3100.

http://www.zzperformance.com/products1.php?id=179 Doesn't have the cutlass listed but has a grand am 3100 listed. hmmm...

http://65.109.52.43/PowrTunerAvailability.htm They have a 96 3100 listed for the power tuner. Dunno if that would work or not though.

i have a mil eliminator that i built. i have made a few from plans i found somewhere and i have used the exact same part on my dads ranger, my mustang, my wifes kia, and now i want to use it on my cuttlass, but it is in cheyenne...i guess ill just have towait till i go there in a couple weeks. Its a simple part, you just plug it into your rear o2 harness instead of the o2 sensor. its like 8 bucks, and it simulates a perfect o2 signal...works great!

Would you please mind explaining how you made that in a little more detail?? I'm also thinking about getting rid of my cat, since it's burning out slowly anyways, but I hate that orange Check Engine light... Or can you buy those MIL Eliminators from somewhere???

these say they are for a ford...but an o2 is an o2 as long as its not a heated one...you want the 2 wire..unless you have a heated one..just email him hes cool...

a mil eliminator cant be mechanical. its an electronnic sensor that its replacing. You could do it with primitivve parts, but remember Back to the future...when the Delorian broke down in 1957 and he had to put that big ass box on the hoodwith all the old parts???? your car would be sweet with one of those on there!!

All it does is show the PCM a voltage that its looking for.

Actually, the O2 sensors are heated....and are four wire. Nearly all post cat O2 sensors are heated....it would take them forever to get up to temp if they weren't.

Actually, it doesn't replace the sensor or do anything electronically- it just spaces it away from the flow of exhaust gas. For some reason, this seems to trick the sensor into outputting the correct signal. There are some huge tech threads on the import forums about it. The WRX guys were the first to try this IIRC and now all of their good test pipes and downpipes that eliminate the car use a O2 sensor spacer. The best part is that it's NOT electronic- it's dumb metal and dirt cheap and it works!

ive had it on for a few days now, and it hasnt pulled a code yet, but also it took like 2 or 3 days for it to get its inital code when i got my exaust done. I will take it to Checker this weekend and run it on their scanner, because the computer will 'watch' a code like this one for a while before kicking on the ol check engine light.
