gp90se Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 How the hell do you get the downpipe bolted back up with an auto tranny?? theres no room to get your hand up there and I cant seem to angle the bolt on an extention w/socket. does removing the plenum and doing it from the top make it easyer? 3.1 I remember having more room, this has no space. Aaron Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Although I had a 5-speed, same way for the auto. I had to get it finger tight by hand. Then get a long extension, follow the downpipe with a swivel either in the middle, or at the top of the two extentions, then go from underneath. It actually isn't that bad, just you need a lot of extensions and a swivel, and you can't see what you're doing. Quote
gp90se Posted September 24, 2005 Author Report Posted September 24, 2005 with the 5 speed, theres a whole lot more room to get your hand in there. I cant get the bolt to angle the same way the downpipe wants the bolt 2 go into the manifold. Im gunna yank the plenum and try that way 2morrow. Quote
pwmin Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 i havent had any trouble, but then again it was on a lift and i had lots of tools to choose from. just used a universal and long extension w/ ratchet. Quote
gp90se Posted September 24, 2005 Author Report Posted September 24, 2005 yup, im on my back in a driveway with jackstands Quote
patgizz Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 i always used a 2' extension with the bolt lightly taped to the 15mm socket and started it on there no problem. Quote
