Cracked valve cover

Recommended Posts

I just noticed today that there is a weird crack on the left side of the spark plug hole all the way on the right. Not sure what it could be from. I know my motor mount is shit and I need to replace it (the bushing is falling apart) but could that cause the problem? I don't know how long it's been like this or how deep the crack is.

Should I just replace it?

hmmm

if its a shallow crack, id say watch it for a bit.

if its enough to let oil and shit out, id def buy a new one

thats me though

Well I have been losing oil for a while now (months and months) but I figured it was either burning it or leaking from the oil pan. It COULD be coming from there... but I don't think it's deep enough. I need to check it out. What is involved with replacing the valve cover? Just pulling the plugs and removing a couple bolts? How involving is it?

im not exactly sure on a 3.4

on my l67, you just remove the coil bracket, undo the screws, bam, comes right up

no need to touch spark plugs

easiest thing to replace on a 3.4 (i think). i bet it's not from that or you would be able to see it. polish that baby and see if it goes away.

Remove the 4 8mm bolts and walla its off!

I doubt it's cracked check and make sure the paint isn't what cracked it.

Turns out it was the paint. I'm such an ass... but I think I'm going to remove it one of these days and paint it black. :)

Niiiiiiiiiiiice. Not sure if I'm going to go flat or flossy... I'm thinking glossy. I like shiny things. :)
