digitaloutsider
5-speed cars don't need/have idle relearn do they? I know this a stupid question, but I'm just curious.
digitaloutsider
How would you perform it? All the instructions I see are like "put the car in drive with your foot on the brake", which you obviously can't do with a 5-speed.
Guest TurboSedan
mine doesn't seem to require any idle relearn. i don't know if it is something Jay did to the chip or what, but i've disconnected the battery several times and pulled the memcal once and it starts up and idles just like normal every time so far. 99RegalGS
Yeah, The idle relearn process for 5 speeds is easy. 1.Start car 2.Walk away for 5 minutes 3.Enjoy
Guest TurboSedan
if you have a parking brake
GP1138
I think it's because the 5-speed chip is always in "Drive", and if you have the parking brake on, it's just like the instructions for an auto relearn. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious.
1990lumina
if you have a parking brake In your case find a nice level area first, then do above instructions

fastbird232
That's odd, I pulled the battery on my old '89 SE and it took two trips around town before it would quit stalling out at every stop (after I put it back in, of course). 1990lumina
Yeah my damn Lumina will rev up and down like a mofo if I don't relearn it after disconnecting the battery. It's wierd how some people don't have to do anything though. Are their any other vehicles out there that you have to relearn the idle after the computer losing power?? Dan94Z34
na dont need wheel chalks, a 2x4 works just as well . My friend had a chevy truck that had the linkage reversed on it, so it had no park.....well yeah it did a cinder block.
