slick Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 it sounds kewl as hell..as well as expensive as hell. That's why you fix your own cars instead of having a mechanic fix everything. Quote
JJ77 Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 and if it makes low end better..wont it kill your high end power? If you have an automatic it should stop pulling around 6200 rpm and with the chip it shift at 6800 rpm, so thats 600 rpm that you won't have as much power. Like ben said it will still pull until 6200 rpm, but you will have much better low end. And you can always get your shift points changes the computer said its my exhuast. not enough back pressure to get the car going. unless you have a full 3 or 4 inch exhaust(which I doubt it would even matter if you did) then you might have problems Quote
bryanjoseph Posted September 16, 2005 Report Posted September 16, 2005 When the local GM dealer (yes, the dealer) botched my 3.4's timing belt, the car had such a lack of power that it could not rev past 5800 rpm and so the trans would not shift. Yet, the engine seemed to run perfectly normal while cruising. It did make a slightly deeper sound on acceleration, though. By the way, the dealer did agree and re-timed it. Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted September 16, 2005 Report Posted September 16, 2005 Yeah something is definately wrong...my dad's DOHC Vert will easily chirp the tires just by flooring the gas from a stop...and its 100% stock Quote
mfewtrail Posted September 16, 2005 Report Posted September 16, 2005 i brake tourqued it at 2k..but as soon as i floored it..it dropped like 500rpm. my 60' time was 2.9..my 1/8th mile was 11.9 at 62mph. how pathetic! If you ran that in the 1/8th, I seriously doubt you ran 89mph in the 1/4 on THAT particular run. That would be picking up 27mph in the "back half" of the track = no way(3.4's with a lot of mods are barely pulling 19-20mph in the back half of the track for what it's worth). Post ALL your slips and every time increment/mph if you don't mind. Quote

maybe2fast Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 the bottom mount is fluid filled and requires alittle love to replace. that sounds like a good estimate and not alot of down time. Quote

Crimson Fury Z Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 yeah, and getting the ffp mount(if they are still around), which is easy to replace since it goes on top. Quote
Euro Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 hmm a 17.9 Tony knows what thats like eh? Quote

OldSkoolGP Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 'm really interested in the 6/6 timing though now. any1 have it done? I have done 5*/5*, and I will say, well worth it. Smoother idle than stock, plus very nice, flat powerband, none of that sudden power surge around 3500-4000 RPM. Ben has done 6/6, and also agrees it's a good thing. Quote

I will probably end up doing the 6*/6* sometime in the near future myself. Quote
snowboard2death Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Hey my ex had a 92 z, with an automatic, with a cheap exhaust put on (no cat) and it would light the tires around a corner. In fact, it would burn them pretty nice from a stop if you got on the brake and gas and let off the brake. Sounds awful doggy to me. Poor fuel delivery maybe, injectors or pump or maybe a really nasty fuel filter. Good luck. Quote
snowboard2death Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 ok, my bad, prolly should read the whole page before posting, ha, anyways, glad you found the problem. Quote
