ok..i just wanna get a few ideas of what my problem is. i know for a fact that my car should be faster off the line than what it is. i ran it at the track and ran 17.9

thats pathetic! and i know its cuz it doesnt move off the line. my MPH was at like 89 by the time i finished. the MPH and the time dont really match up very well. it means it pulls really hard when it gets going..but from the light til about 4k rpm..it just rolls away.

a 3.4 with an intake mangaflow exhaust should atleast be able to chirp tires around a corner, dont ya think? i think a stock 3.4 does that! i cant even spin tires in water when it rans..thats how bad it is. any1 have any ideas what it could be?

i've got 3 ideas so far. either injectors, fuel pump, or cam timing. just wanna see if any1 has any other ideas. if its the tranny..i'll just swap it off the euro. no big deal. i love parts cars!

300 miles. yes..3 HUNDRED miles ago. plugs..wires..coil packs..oil change..oil filter..fuel filter. i also had the timing belt, water pump, altenator and EGR done about the same time.

amazing huh? something is definatly wrong. i thought it was just something like a tune up but now it just runs like a smoother sled. not a rough sled.

thats what sappy said on 60*, but wouldnt bad timing run the engine to run the crap all around and not just off the line?

It really would depend the way it's mistimed. I mean it might suck for the idle, but it would be awesome for the top end.

Who did you t-belt?

hell yea. not to mention after the chip, pulley, and bone i'll be in the 14's. i seriously sat for the first 4k rpm. it was soo bad.

how much is a timing job and who exactly should i trust to do it being as this mechanic cant..or didnt bother cuz it was doing it before he changed the belt.

Well if you think he didn't bother why don't you take the plastic cover off and look at the belt?

I would go back and request a refund since he didn't do the timing right.

cuz i already looked at the belt. he definatly replaced that. i have a feeling he took the belt off and jammed the pulleys in place until he got the new one back on figuring the timing was correct already. i've seen guys do that when they dont feel liek timing it. its a good idea though.

  Oh really?

Anyways, I usually launch around 2800 RPM. My 60' are consitant 2.1's.

Those are pretty respectable 60' times. Do you get much wheel spin launching at 2800??

Slight chirp. Like I said, that 2.1 is very consistant.

I had the same problem with my car when I bought it. Sure.....the last owner replaced the timing belt, he just didn't know what the hell he was doing. Re-timed it, and it was a total different car. Before I fixed it, my buddies 323 would walk me till I hit about 4K. :bash: It was totally gutless down low, just like yours. I'd bet $100 your timing is incorrect.

If he'll change the timing see if he can do the 6+ intake and 6- exhaust timing mod for better low end.

http://www.60degreev6.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=DOHC&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=9&page=1

it sounds kewl as hell..as well as expensive as hell. lol. is it worth it though? i mean is there a decrease in engine life? and if it makes low end better..wont it kill your high end power?

i brought it to the mechanic and i talked with him. he said its probably not the cam timing. it would be running worse than it is. i brought it to aamco and they ran it. not the tranny. the computer said its my exhuast. not enough back pressure to get the car going. i'm bringin it to menike today sometime to have them look at it.

i'm really interested in the 6/6 timing though now. any1 have it done?
