joey b
My alternator seems to be dying on me. I had a shop put a different type of voltage regulator in it to be compatible. I need to change this thing tomorrow! Can I splice the wires from the existing OBD I harness and put them on an OBD II harness and have it work with a run of the mill 97 alternator? manitcor
it shouldnt matter the connectors between ODBI and ODBII systems are the same, the number of wires are different but thats just based on how the computer uses the regultor
joey b
I thought the connector was different and didn't plug into the newer alternator. I won't have a chance to look until I take it apart tomorrow. I'll have to get it back together same day though cause I have classes and will be working all day thurs thru sun. slick
Yes, the plug is different from OBD1 to OBD2.
manitcor
Now that I think about it, it might be, I went from ODB1.5 I keep forgetting there may be slight changed between 1 and 1.5 even. 1.5 and 2 share the same connector. slick
When I swapped my engine harness, I had to swap the plug as well. You just use the two inner wires for the plug.
