z34_nut
I cannot for the life of me, find that damn grommet on the firewall. I can't find it on the inside of my car either. WTF? I am not resorting to mutalting the firewall on my car. Is there any other way to run the power wire in any other spot in the firewall? Seriously, I've got everything wired up, and then the last thing I need to do for wires, this gets in the way. Does the fact that is a standard matter? I wouldn't think so, because the standard shouldn't effect the firewall. ~Fustrated.

DiscoStudd
Uh-oh, looks like we better put that pic (of my car) up in the FAQ section ! If you have a 5-Speed, then you won't have the grommet, because that's where the clutch master cylinder passes through the firewall... Has anyone with a 5spd actually been able to find another hole in the firewall. I don't think Kevin ever found one
z34_nut
oo man, I definatly don't want to do any drilling today. Michael had a power cord in this car prior, I'll have to call him. I'll post the results.
z34_nut
Does any-one know where the power + from the bose system comes in? I could use that, take the old cord, and pull the 4 gauge through.
z34_nut
good news, found a hole on the drivers side. Its just big enough for my 4 gauge, but don't expect to run anything bigger. As for the location, its just under the steering shaft form in the firewall, almost behind the brake pedal. It took some peeling of the carpet, but I found it.
LukeZ34
Bose power is in the main harness at the bose amp, and I'm pretty sure the wires for it are wrapped with the other wires that lead to the trunk. I had the same problem as you and just drilled a hole in the firewall then ran the wire down the drivers side and in to the trunk.

slick
Be sure to put a grommet in the firewall. Don't need those nice new amps of your's frying anytime soon.
J
leanred that the hard way when i was 16, no grommet, coated wires don't like to rub on sharp edges of firewalls very much
z34_nut
Yeah, thats the thing, it had a great rubber grommet on there, so, I put the 4 gauge right in.
