wow now why the f*ck didn't GM make one of these?!?

It wouldn't be worth making, just too expensive. Good articles though keep em' up.

the TGP is soo much more attractive looking than the Supercoupe, the Tbird looks like a 2 door taurus, nothing really flashy about it. But GM coulda put alot more boost into the TGP and kept up with the Supercoupe,

Actually, it has no problem keeping up with one back over here in reality. In magazine land, they say a TSC runs a 14.9. I have yet to hear of a bone stock Tbird pulling that off. Mid to high 15's is more like it, which is what the rest of the magazines that I have from that era show. Very similar times to the TGP. They were just out to bash the TGP in that particular article, because they didn't care for the 3.1, or that it was FWD.

And 93Cutlass, no. The TGPs have the same rear rotors as any other Gen I w-body, as far as I know.

I saw that Lumina article with the STE interior (I think I have every issue from the articles in this thread). I could just picture people running out anxiously, getting to the dealer, and going "ummmm......wtf?"

See? Isn't buying whole stacks of magazines for the same price as one article so much nicer??

I fucking hate magazine land. Honestly, I don't believe Z34's 7.5 to sixty and 15.8 quarter mile. I believe it's 7 flat and 15.6.

...right up until you mash the gas and see which tires are spinning.

Ah yes, I need a real copy of that issue for the TSTE article. I found it on microfilm at the local library (where I research to make my list of magazines I need), and made a copy. The title still cracks me up.

"A five seater good enough to make Hugh Hefner want kids".

The GTP DOHC engine picture confuses me, they never made that injector cover for the DOHC's. It says ''DOHC 24 Valve V6'' instead of ''3.4L DOHC'' or ''Twin Dual Cam V6'', they should have made that cover.

Posted

Good eye...I didn't even notice that one. I guess it's just one of those things that was changed before production.

Posted

Yeah, there's just little stuff that gets changed, but I liked that cover. It's better than ''Twin Dual Cam V6'' at least that cover in your scan had engine information on it.

Hmmmm......CD player, moonroof, HUD, 5-speed......but no leather. Kinda' odd.

Posted

Yeah, our cars are weird to say the least. Some are faster than they should be, some are way slower, some have these options, or this option that only came with option but, mine doesn't have it.

Oh, and the GTP exhaust tips are different than production too.

how so? there square, and they were new, when they were shiny and silver, over years they just turn black

I thought they came black?

no, i dont *think* so, mabye im wrong, i didnt buy one of these cars brand new

The square tips were silver/aluminum colored when new. Most you see are black unless the car belongs to someone who actually bothers cleaning the tips.

The wiper pods on that STE are also different. Those can be seen in the first-printing 1990 Grand Prix owner's manuals (red 2-door SE on the front).

My computer shit itself last night so I need to track down the scanner software before I can scan the rest of mine.

Anyways, since David and Stevo posted theirs in this thread, I changed the name of the topic. So if anyone else has any articles, post them up. Also, if anybody has any w body magazine ads, they would be cool too.

Posted

Ha! I noticed the new title.

I have seen a few Z34 ads in my stack of mags, but they are fold out, and therefore like 3 pages wide. It would be a feat to try to scan, but I might if I find time.

I also have a 1993 Chevy sales brochure, but it is about an inch too wide for my scanner.

My contribution.....

I've posted these before in another thread(TGP section I think a while back), but I guess it won't hurt to post em' here since we're now compiling all W' related articles here.
