ToroToro Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 I stopped in at the library today and checked out 6 mags from the 80s-90s. In the next few days, I'll be scanning the W-body articles and posting the links in this thread. I have some about the Z34 ( with an LQ1 write up ), GTP, TGP vs T-Bird, STE, Cutty vert, Cutty 4dr Quad 4 5 speed, and a Lumina Euro. Possibly some others as well...havent gone through them all yet... Hopefully not all of them are floating around the net yet. fastbird232 Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Hey, cool! I've got a Popular Hot Rodding from '92 or '93 that previews all the new performance cars, and discusses the changeover from the 3.1 Turbo to the 3.4L DOHC in the Grand Prix and also talks about the Cutty Internationals and Z-34s. Problem is, I don't have a scanner. But I'll sure as hell type it out for you guys! Quote
stockgp Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 i wonder why the regal is the only test car without quad buckets. not available that year? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Very cool! I like how they mention the "top secret" McLaren GP in there. Quote
ToroToro Posted September 8, 2005 Author Report Posted September 8, 2005 Glad you like! Probobly the last one for tonight...this gets pretty time consuming. So the Lumina owners arent left out... J Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 the pic of the torch red z in the tunnel is a place in the metro det area that i drive through all the time! And the last Z34 pic they even mention my home town of Warren Quote
Prospeeder Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 get that TGP one on! THats awsome dude, keep it coming! Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 well I only read the first ones so far but... i find it really interesting to see the 0-80 times descrepancy!!! The GP SE they tested had a 5spd but still... GP: 0-60 in 9.7sec 0-80 in 16.8sec Regal: 0-60: 11.2sec 0-80: 20.8 sec Cutty: 0-60: 11.4 sec 0-80: 21.7 sec Wow the MTX SE they tested with that 2.8 is almost as "fast" if not as fast as most of us with ATX 3.1 & 3100's. I find that really interesting considering the fact that it's down atleast 10hp and 10 ft/lbs of torque to the other 60* V6's I mentioned. I'm wondering why the cutty's are so much slower than the Regals??? If I were to have 2 of them race, the buick would have put atleast a car on a supossedly comprably equipped vehicle. I'm wondering what all Olds did to make it almost a whole second slower? I'm going to assume the reason is the difference in the tuning of the transmission?!? Having driven a my Grandma's mint '89 Cutty International Coupe that's not even really broken in (it has less than 15k original miles), I'd be interested to see what the regal's like. If there's one thing I like about the International's, it's the exhaust note. The stock exhaust note from her coupe is so much more appealing to me than what I get from my cutty. Oh yea and all the stuff Shawn is obsessed with like the Digi Dash and fully adjustable seats...etc. Good post though! If you can find more of these, I'm sure everyone would appreciate it! Quote
GP1138 Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Those are really interesting to read. Though these cars seem to be the ubiquitous black sheep of GM. Quote

93CutlassSupreme Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 TGP's had vented rear rotors? Quote
digitaloutsider Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Huh.. that GP article is crazy. I never knew you could get a HO Quad 4 in the LE's. I've seen a low output many a time.. but an HO? Quote
fastbird232 Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Yup, I've got the Hot Rod issue with that on the cover. Quote
Prospeeder Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 the TGP is soo much more attractive looking than the Supercoupe, the Tbird looks like a 2 door taurus, nothing really flashy about it. But GM coulda put alot more boost into the TGP and kept up with the Supercoupe, Quote
Canada Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Road and Track listed the gear ratios for a 282 in a J/L car....not a W car. Quote
