Supreme Cutlass
What should I lift it up with? (3.1L)
GP1138
Use a 3/8" Ratchet wrench, there should be a hole for it on the arm.

Afubar
What they said, I replaced mine this past July. The hardest part was getting the overflow off so I could get to it. Even the belt was a breeze to replace.

I dunno about your car, but mine has a good 4" of clearance WITH it in.
Afubar
I had no clearance with it in, however, once I figured I could get it off, it gave me lots of room and replacement of the tensioner was a breeze, easily done in 10 minutes or less (to include belt replacement). slick
I usually use an open end wrench to loosen the tensioner to get the belt off.

Supreme Cutlass, it's because Afubar has a 3.4. The LQ1 drastically cuts down on usuable space on the right side of the engine bay.
94CutlassSLCoupe
on a 3.1, use a 3/8" ratchet in the loosening direction and pull the belt off the alternator. If you need to change the tensioner, it should come of easily with i believe a 15mm socket.
