JakeMetz63 Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Hey If my tranny goes out in my 94 GTP with a 97 LQ1, im going to want to swap something thats a bit more fun to drive in there. So I was wondering how much $ and work it would be to make my car a manual? Has anybody done this? Is it just a big PITA? Any suggestions would be nice. Thank you. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 considering you have a '94, it would require ALOT of work. if only you had a '93 it would be EASY. check out: http://www.brian89gp.com/ Quote
brianteel Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 i did it in my 96 and it was not too bad....the hardest thing was getting the clutch master right which was not too bad as soon as i figured out what i did wrong. Quote
ShockTherapy Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 search for soccrplyrgtp, he did a 5-speed in a his 96, he'd probably be some help. him or Brian Teel, he's smart too. Quote
brianteel Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 soccorplygtp was a 94..... http://www.l67swap.com/forum/cms_view_article.php?aid=6 that is based a 3800 5spd but should be somewhat help full. the 2 hardest things is getting the pedals in there then making the hole on the firewall right to take the clutch master. other then that it is really no different then pulling the motor to replace the trans. if i had all the parts i couldhave done it in a weekend Quote
Euro Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 and soccrplayrgtp was a northstar with a 5 speed Quote
brianteel Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 he started with a 5spd 3.4 DOHC now his car is a 6spd RWD northstar Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 then making the hole on the firewall right to take the clutch master. that took all of about 5 minutes for me to do. Dremel with 18" flex shaft and a tungsten carbide cutter will be your friend here. no brake booster removal required. make small cuts and test fit often because if you mess it up you are in big trouble. that tungsten carbide cutter will cut through the firewall sheet metal like a hot knife through butter so be very careful. brianteel Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 that is where i messed up. i made it too big then had to weld a plate to it then re cut it Quote
