Kalgorn Posted September 3, 2005 Report Posted September 3, 2005 Once in a while, my car decides to stall on me. I've had it occur while doing two things, but it doesn't happen all the time. 1. Driving real slow after letting it idle for a while 2. Putting it in Neutral and coasting down hills I've had it stall twice (that I can remember) while driving slow and letting it idle for a while. Once, I was sitting in a parking lot in Drive for a couple minutes. I put it in park, and it stalled. It also stalled while slowing down for a stop sign and slowly rolling through it right before I went to the parking lot I'm talking about. The putting it in Neutral and coasting thing just happened again today on the way home from work. Was on a back road with some hills so I put it in Neutral and started coasting. All of a sudden it just stalled. Another time was at 70mph coasting down a hill in Neutral. Clogged injectors? Bad fuel filter? Any ideas are appreciated. Quote

joey b Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Many earlier 3.4's do that. In 94 they changed the injectos and that cured the problem. Get some injectors from a 94-97. I replaced mine over a year ago and it hasn't done it since. Quote

joey b Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 remove plenum remove injectors from fuel rail Install new injectors install plenum You're supposed to replace injector O-rings everytime they are removed. Shoot 'em with some WD 40 and let em sit for a while while you loosen them by gently rotating the injector. I didn't replace my O-rings and I've reused them twice I believe. No leaking fuel either. GutlessSupreme Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 That said, they're pretty cheap, and I'd replace them anyway for the piece of mind. Quote
Kalgorn Posted September 6, 2005 Author Report Posted September 6, 2005 Hmm... just thought of something today. Is the injectors problem a mileage thing or something that basically has happened since the car is new? This only just started like a month ago but I am nearing 100k. Is that why? Quote
slick Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 I'd do the injectors. You can have the upper plenum off in 30 minutes, and the fuel rail pulled in another 5 minutes. Seriously, if you were in a rush, you could do it in less than 1 hour. Just be sure to relieve all your fuel pressure before you pull your injectors. I made the mistake of not doing that once  Quote
Kalgorn Posted September 6, 2005 Author Report Posted September 6, 2005 See, I don't know how to do that stuff. I can pull stuff apart and put it back together, but little stuff like relieving all the fuel pressure... I dunno how to do. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Take a screwdriver to schraider (wow, that's a butchered spelling) valve. Be sure to cover it with a paper or shop towel. Quote

Kalgorn Posted September 6, 2005 Author Report Posted September 6, 2005 Where is this valve located? Sorry for all the questions. I'm still learning how to do most of this stuff on my own. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Look under the "TWIN DUAL CAM V6" cover. There'll be a valve covered up by a black (on my car) or silver (on some other cars) cap. Quote
