chevysmallblock Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 I just went and picked up an o-ring, the notorious one. Anyway they didn't have one for a 92 lq1 lumina. So i got a different in hopes of it working in conjunction with rtv. any it says 112, 121, 173 Eng, 1982-96. The inner diameter is a hair larger than a quarter. Will it fit? If not 67 cents wont hurt the wallet. I have a maglite somewhere, i read that works. Quote
chevysmallblock Posted September 1, 2005 Author Report Posted September 1, 2005 Nevermind, task completed. Just need to install intakes and ect. I made one big oops but I'll keep that to myself. Also I noticed another problem. I'll post a pic from the boards here and explain below. Quote
chevysmallblock Posted September 1, 2005 Author Report Posted September 1, 2005 OK, do you seen the antifreeze on the pump drive, it is puddled there on top of a "cap" of some sort that quite easily dislodged itself. My question is, wil this now leak? If so how can I safely put this cap back in place and seal it too. Thanks in advance. Quote
Stevo Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 Lets just say. If you want to remove and reseal that oil pump drive cap ... your looking at taking the head off. Do a search for oil pump drive or oil seal. Quote
chevysmallblock Posted September 1, 2005 Author Report Posted September 1, 2005 I'm aware of that. That picture above makes is pretty obvious. The seal is in, the new question is about the peice that came out. No point in taking off the head anyway when I can jimmy it well enough to hold till i can afford a clutch for my l67 swap. Quote
Stevo Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 I don't think I fully understand what your trying to say. initially and to my response. You have the oil seal in ... but you did'nt fish out the old one??? Quote
chevysmallblock Posted September 1, 2005 Author Report Posted September 1, 2005 Hmm, not sure how to explain it. Why I'm even doing it this late it nutz anyway. Pictures of the things completly out and dissasembled would help. O well, thx. EDIT-im finished, lost my 6pt 10mm Quote
Stevo Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 EDIT-im finished, lost my 6pt 10mm lol... i know how you feel. I lose tools its usually because I'm clumbsy and drop them in the engine bay or behind something I'm working on where I cannot see or reach them. Right now I have a 10mm box end wrench inside my dash and my engine bay ate one of my air cleaner screws. Yesterday while installing a new water pump I fumbled the damn belt tensioner pulley 3 times and everytime the damn thing landed on a shelf under the motor, instead of on the ground. Thats why I got turned off to doing all the work. Now with a fella that I used to bring my 88' to is gone. I now have to get more confident and do my own work. Quote
