GP1138 Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 I got new struts put on in the rear, Monroe Sensatracs. I also have TGP wheels and 215 width tires on them. Is it normal, with two people in the backseat and moderate load in the trunk, for the tires to rub on the wheel-wells? I couldn't go around turns without this really terrible grinding noise from the rear tires. It did it worse when the struts were shot, but I thought it'd go away when they were replaced. Quote
1990lumina Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 I would say no. I've had heavy weight in the trunk, and 4 heavier people in the back a couple times, and I have no rubbing, but I guess my car is totally different from yours anyway. Only time I've had rubbing is when the wheel wells got full of ice in spring time...man that sounded cool driving to school with grinding for 3 miles :? Anyway, I'm still gonna say that shouldn't be happening Quote
Robby1870 Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Yeah, that shouldnt happen. One a side note....those 215s on a 8" wide wheel must look kinda small, lol Quote
GP1138 Posted August 30, 2005 Author Report Posted August 30, 2005 They don't look too bad. But if they rub like this, the 225's that were on there before must not be much better!! I gotta figure out why they're doing this. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Sounds like your spring is weak. Struts wouldn't fix that, because struts are just dampeners. Quote
GP1138 Posted September 1, 2005 Author Report Posted September 1, 2005 Where would I get the Moog leaf spring helper shims? Quote
Calvin Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Did you have an alignment after the strut swap? If your camber is too positive with the wide wheels it can cause that problem Quote
