92 GP Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 Alright i'm starting to play around with the idea of a 3.1/3400 hybrid. My question is would the internal valvetrain from a 3.1 fit into a 3400.. example...say i just happened to have bought a performance valve setup for a 3.1 (valves/rockers/etc etc) but i want to stick on 3400 heads. Would they fit? would it be any more efficient? This would be of course after the heads got P&P Quote
fargo_182 Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 http://www.v6z24.com look under performance and check out the links, they have basically mastered hybrids and 3400 swaps, extensive knowledge at your disposal and http://www.60degreev6.com search for a guy whose name is v6h.o. Quote

The 99 up are the best to use. Use the cam lifters, everything then you will have a good performance gain. Here's some more info. http://www.netavalanche.com/tgp/viewtopic.php?t=2604 Jud Quote
turboz34 Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 Has anyone completely finished a 3400/3.1 hybrid? I started a project similar to this a few years ago. But i sold the car it was going in and pretty much ran way over budget putting it together. The motor is actually sitting in a storage space. And arent all 3400 heads roller rocker? Quote

Humm, I would say mine is completly finished, That's if 13.80's* is finished. Shawn (dbtk2) did a 3100 swap that used stamped rockers so I don't know which 3400 had rollers or if they ever had stamped. He turns mid 14's. I think there are some guys on 60*V6 that have done it. turboz34 Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 Does your 3400 top end use the "thin" style injectors? yeah ive seen pics of dbtk2's car. Quote
SleeperRed90TGp Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 No I used my tgp engine harness. Everething will plug in except the TPS and IAC and there you can just lengthen the wires. I run several different # and type of injectors so I didn't use them. There also to small. There are adaptors for the old to new style but kind of pricy. Just use your old ones they fit the rail. Then pick up a set on ebay when you figure out what # you want. Leave the front rail hold down off, much eaiser to route the harness through to the rear. Jud Quote
turboz34 Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 ok i c the route you took. I used the thin style injectors out of a new trail blazer. I cant remember what size they are. I basicly used the entire top end off a monte carlo or it might have been a grand am gt. I was just curious, how many other people did a 3400 top end swap. I really lost interest in the motor since i sold everything related to it. I have no interest in putting it in anything since without a turbo it wouldnt make much power. But thanks for the info And sorry 92GP for jack'n your thread. Quote
