AC pump wont turn on...

I finished the swap of my 97 LQ1 into the 94 GTP and we got everything working perfect, except the AC. The system holds the "Freyon", but it wont click on. Anybody have this problem before? All the accessories to the engine were from the 94, just the engine is 97. Any ideas?

If you are looking for the compressor to cycle on and off, it won't.

It will either engage or not be engaged as, at least on my 93 LQ1, it is a variable pressure compressor which in layman's terms, it runs all the time pumping what it needs to keep the system up.

You can ohm the clutch contacts on the compressor and see if there is a resistance there...next, check to see if its getting the signal to close...if it's not, find out why it's not getting a signal. What drives the system?...probably pressure sensors on the AC side...so check them, etc...I'll let others explain that logic.

Turbo231, on my car, when you turn the A/C on and off, the center of the A/C compressor will actually click and spin and then stop spinning, so I think he should be looking for it to start spinning.

Is the center of the A/C compressor spinning?

I was making the assumption he had the AC on. With the AC off, you're right, the compressor does not spin...if the AC is on and running, the compressor should spin.

My S-10 and others, the compressor will cycle all the time(with the AC system working and set to cool) on and off as the system requires pressure or not. My GP will keep the compressor engaged and just vary it's output, with the AC on and set to cool.

I personally am always set to cool. :D

nothing would spin when I turned the AC on was what I was trying to say. Im just not going to worry about it untill it gets warm out again, ive got too much shit going on with classes starting and having to move it, I dont have any tools on campus to fix it anyways. Thanks though!

An overcharged system will sometimes cause the compressor not to run too.

seriously? My Compressor isint turning on either, its about 1lb over on the blue (low?) side. I checked the relay and the connector, the compressor is getting power and has a good ground. Would the high pressure on one side prevent the clutch from engaging?
