kknobl
I got a new EGR today to put in my Grand Prix. I would like to replace it on my own. If anyone has experience with doing this on a 3.1 MPFI, I'd be curious to know how it went for you. Was it easy, hard? Any advice or suggestions? Thanks, Kevin
Robby1870
Super easy. Two bolts, a gasket and one electrical connector
gp90se
Before installing, clean the passage with brake cleaner and a flathead (carbon buildup sucks), after done cleaning, fire the car up, it will idle around 3k rpms but it will blow everything out. have fun
kknobl
Thanks for all the info. Replaced EGR today but am wondering how to clear codes. Anyone have any advice on this? I heard somewhere that with GM cars of this age, you need to go through a "drive cycle" for the codes to clear. Also was told that if the light pops on again, that's normal and should correct itself after one or two "driving cycles." Anyone else ever heard of this? Robby1870
pulling the fuse for the ECM or disconnecting the battery for like 10min will clear any codes
GutlessSupreme
After which you should perform the Idle Relearn Procedure, which is probably what you were talking about.
skiiirt
3. If the car does not start initially, keep trying WITHOUT putting your foot on the accelerator. I didnt think stepping on the gas in a electronic fuel injected car did anything when starting? [/thread jack]
digitaloutsider
Pushing the accelerator all the way to the floor will put the car in purge flood mode, which keeps it from sending gas to the engine, in the event of.. you guessed it.. a flood. I'm not sure what pushing it any other amount would do, though.
