2001 Impala 72,000 miles $8990 3400 motor

2002 prix 72,000 miles $8990 3800 i think

200x Cavi 50,000 miles $7990 4banger

99 Lumina 80,000 miles $5990 3100

98 lumina 92,000 miles $5,750 3100

2000 GrandAm GT 122,000 miles 6,500 3400

93 elderado 104,000 miles $5,900 ?

ford 98 ZX2 72,000 miles $4,900 4banger

everything else regardless of year was over 10K even 2000 malibu was $10,900 with 79k miles on it.. fucking steelerships.

pourpous of this is to simply gather input. im looking ot park the lumina for a bit and take my modifications a little more seriously. this means a daily driver will be required.

8. ford 98 ZX2 72,000 miles $4,900 4banger

1. Looks good to me. Probably the one I would chose cause they look like really good cars (fit and finish) and the 3400 will save you on gas compared to the 3400 yet they still move pretty good.

2. Need more details. GT? Loaded?

3. Depending on the year, probably too much $$$ for a Crapalier.

4 and 5. Probably good vehicles but I just don't care for 4 door Luminas.

6. Kinda high mileage probably better off with one of those Luminas for the price.

7. Gas is $1/L are you crazy?

8. Small and I hate them. They have no leg/arm/and absolutely no HEAD room.

HAHA really? u wouldnt say

but really, go with either the grand am or the grand prix, or the lumina, the escorts are pitiful cars and the elderado is a gas guzzler and the impala, i dunno, the 3400 would be so slow in that

If you're going to spend $9K on a later model GP, you might as well spring for a GTP. You can find them with under 100,000 miles on them for around or less than $9K(up to about the 01 models).

One example....

Bottom line, go for the Impala. Once you take it for a test drive, you'll never want to hop back in a Lumina again! The "Millenium" Impalas definitely expose the old Loomies for the "bargain basement" cars that they are (this coming from a former Loomie owner who traded up to a new Imp.)

And yes, the 3400 does scoot! It gets fuckin' incredible gas mileage, too (well our Imp gets better gas mileage than our old 3100 Loomie did anyway.) We get around 28 mpg in mixed city/highway driving, and I'm sure it'll easily top 30 on the highway...

yeah i was really digging the Imps.. i looked at both luminas they were base.. = colum shifter and bench seats!! omg totaly different then my lumina. I can see where you think lumina interior seems cheesy. I have to admit my Lumina is nice compaired to many many others but is showing its age.

after a long discussion with some friends and family im just going to keep fixing the car i have now. in the long run it would be cheeper.. read thats twice.. cheeper for me to fix my car "replace the motor, trans, and repaint it," then it would to pickup a car with 70k miles on the clock. i guess it basicly boils down to, im just not ready to part with 7000 bux right now.

I swear those cars don't move bad AT ALL. When we had them on our fleet I even opened the hood to see for myself that it WASN'T a 3800. It's not gonna be a mid-15 second car like a GA, but comparable to base Monte Carlo which is like mid 16s or so. It's a nice engine, quiet compared to the 3800 and one of the nicest most comfortable cars I've ever driven. I felt pimpin cruising around in it!

That's exactly what I did when we first took ours for a test drive  . I remember scoffing at my Uncle when he bought a new Imp back in 02 and told me that the 3400 was a damn quick motor (I had a preconcieved notion that the 3400 wasn't much more than a glorified 3100.) Well taking one for a drive made a believer out of me!

Our impalla has the 3400 and will waste my cutty by like 3 car lengths. :bash: When we go to cedar point, windows up, no a/c on, an driving the speed limit on the freeway, we get 35.6 mpg

If you're lookin' for a daily driver, I'd go either with the ZX2 or the Cavi - as those both have the smaller engines - you may lose some power, but you'll make that up in gas milage.

i'd stay away from the caddy....unless you wanna pay X amounts more $$$ for gas compared to all the rest.....i agree the crapalier and zx2 will get better mileage...but they're too small, i'd go with either the impala or the GP...

and is it just me or are both lumina's too pricey for being base's with that much miles!!!

If the cavalier is an 03+ with the ecotec, get it. 140hp 150tq. Aluminum heads/block, low 16's with auto, mid high 15's with the 5 speed. They give the 1st gen lumi Z34's a run for their money in 5sp form, and with 25-25MPG too!

buy "private party!!" With all the "employee discounts" the dealerships are having to make up lost profits by raping on their used cars, even though the used car market has turned to shit... I looked the other day and the private party value on a loaded '98 Lumina LTZ, 3800 was less than $4600.00

For instance... this one's at a dealer...
