yeah, that's what I was seein' too, but IIRC GM was fairly generic with their RPO codes and the Vette guys were probably the only ones who took the time to really find out what some of them meant.

I would guess those had something to do with the dealership the vehicle was being sent to, or something to do with the MSRP, or window sticker or something. The assembly plants had to have some sort of way to track cars that were optioned to a customer's preferences through a particular dealership.

My STE has a:

R6A - CONTROL SALES ITEM NO. 01

R6R - CONTROL SALES ITEM NO. 17

R9H - CONTROL SALES ITEM NO. 83

Those were the toughest RPO's to find other than assembly plant codes.

Here are some examples to further prove my theory (thanks to some random RPO breakdowns on a Yahoo searches for these):

R6M - Control sales item 13 New Jersey cost surcharge

R7A - Control sales item 26 special option processing

R8C - Control sales item 53 National Corvette Museum delivery

They must indicate Dealership delivery/customer order information and processing. According to #53 you can pick up your vette at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green!?
