Guest TurboSedan Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 is there a difference between the n/a 3.1 and the TGP fuel pressure regulator? if so should i buy one at the GM dealership or somewhere else? thanks, joshua Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 No difference. I put a Borg Warner in mine and it works great. The GM one seemed to have a better fit, however. Quote

Chris A Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 By virtue of design there doesn't need to be. The FPR utilizes a diaphram and an orifice to regulate pressure. On one side there is a spring and a vacuum port, the other the orifice with fuel. The orifice allows fuel to bleed off into the return line, reducing pressure, the more the orifice is restricted less fuel is returned and the higher the pressure. The spring pretty much sets the base fuel pressure (it works to raise pressure), and the vacuum port works against the spring, allowing fuel pressure to decrease as vacuum increases. On a turbo car under boost, the spring and the boost pressure work with each other, pressing on the diaphram to restrict fuel return and increasing pressure. Since the spring rate and vacuum port are matched to a 1:1 ratio (1 psi of fuel pressure decrease for 1 psi of vacuum) it works at the same ratio for boost pressure. Chris Quote
