f_399
FROM MYMONTE: As many of us probably already know, the w-body has a turn signal switch that has a habit of failing. Symptoms are loss of one or both regular break lights, but regular operation of the third light. The switch on these cars is rather buried and to have it done professionaly can cost $400! My question is to those who have already done this procedure themselves. How do you apply enough tesion to the spring underneath the wheel lock disc so that you can place the locker ring around the rod of the steering column. I had three guys fighting with it, untill i dismantled the wheel lock and went ahead with the rest of the procedure. this is getting very annoying! now both my tailights dont light up when i brake! it works if i gently pull signal light switch towards me. It used to be that only the left one turns on when brake, now nothing lights signal light works though how do we fix this?

DiscoStudd
Look in my write-up and you'll see a pic of a tool called a "Lock plate compressor." http://www.likeabigdog.com/column/94upsignal.htm Now on that note, be sure to pass along the link to the write-up to your MyMonte buddies ...
