Cam'ron Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 i have seen some of these on ebay, theyre supposed to trick the ecu into thinking the air temp is optimal or something... are the things a joke or do they actually work, any harm done? pros cons lemme know Quote
manitcor Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 they are normally used on the IAT and tell the PCM that the ambient temp is -10 or something crazy, this will give you a small boost in power for a short amoung of time as the PCM adjust timing, but it will only last for about 30 seconds as your PCM adjusts to the reading. Cam'ron Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 it last like 30 seconds and the nit doesnt work anymore? or what? Quote
manitcor Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 it last like 30 seconds and the nit doesnt work anymore? or what? yup, pretty much Quote
manitcor Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 as a good rule of thumb to keep in mind, if a mod costs less than a couple hundred bucks and is easy to install and actually WORKs then just about everyone would have it in thier mod list. Look at the fast guys, see what they have Quote
Cam'ron Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 ok well if you took it out and then put it back in say for like drag racing would it be advantageous that way? Quote
manitcor Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 not worth the trouble IMHO get a DHP where you can really control how the car handles timing and fuel Quote
Cam'ron Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 k i am new to anything not SBC what is a DHP? Quote
jeremy Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 what is a DHP? I am sure he is talking about http://www.digitalhorsepowerinc.com Quote
slick Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 And this has been discussed several other times, along with every other ebay scam claiming 20 HP. Someone really needs to make a sticky about this... Quote
