50notch Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 hey everyone. My 1990 TGP's ignition cylinder in the steering column has broke. This is not the problem. The problem is accessing the release button to remove the cylinder. What a pain in the ass. After studying the shop manual diagram with my neighbor, a long-time mechanic for good ol' FORD, we are both at a standstill as to how this button is to be accessed. Do any dash panels have to come out? ANY advice would be greatly appreciated. Quote
Turbocharged400sbc Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 the steering wheel has to come off along with the steering lockplate then the turnsignal and a small white plastic piece with two copper contacts on it (this is what triggers the Key in ignition dinger) then you can remove the Torx bolt/pin and then you just slide out the old ingnition lock and tumblers and slide the new one in...
