50notch Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 Hello to all. I am new to this forum and a new 1990 TGP owner. Over the past few weeks the car has stalled from time to time, about once or twice a day when i am at a complete stop at a light. Today when i tried to start it, I had to hold down the accelerator to get it going and remain there with my foot on the pedal in order to keep it from stalling. It stalls immediatly when i let off the gas. I have read a little about crossover pipe failure in these cars and am hoping that this is not the case in my car since this was supposed to be my reliable CHEAP daily driver as opposed to my 5mpg mustang. Any advice on what my problem may be would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Quote
DiscoStudd Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 It could be any of the following: - Dirty or bad Idle Air Control valve (IAC) - Vacuum leak due to a broken or worn vacuum hose - Bad coilpack(s) or Ignition Control Module (ICM) - Broken or worn spark plug(s) - Bad spark plug wire(s) - Bad Crank Position Sensor or crank sensor wiring - Clogged fuel filter or fuel injectors - Plugged Catalytic Converter This is not a definitive list, but it's a good place to start...
