Garrett Powered Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Got an autometer trans temp gauge here and thinking about putting it in line with this brass fitting I got from the hardware store last night. But I wanted to check first here to see if anyone knows on the 4t60 tranny is there a bung hole on it somewhere you can just screw in the brass fitting? I know that would be best if it is not near the exhaust. I already decided to not weld it on the pan. But I also need to know which line flows fluid away from the tranny so I can plan an inline sensor for plan B. so vote! There is a few pictures of my inline " T " and gauge on page 2 of my link below. Thanks in advance because without your help it is going to be way messier than it has to be. I know when people who hook them up to those Snap on tranny flushing machines could watch the flow of the fluid through the hose and tell the direction, because Snap on uses the cars existing tranny pump to perform the service. sl3196 Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 On my 4t65 there is a port right on the top and thats where I installed mine. Quote
mfewtrail Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 On my 4t65 there is a port right on the top and thats where I installed mine. There should be one in nearly the exact same place on the 4T60(on top of the transaxle, kinda inline with where the throttle body is placed on the motor....just look in that area on the transaxle and you should see the plug if the turbocharger and all isn't blocking that area). cutlassdude96 Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 I didnt know are trannys had a bunghole Quote
DaveFromColorado Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 I usually install trans temp gauages inline with the fluid running TO the cooler from the trans (the hottest fluid in the trans) to get an idea of the extreme hot side of the system. not sure if that's the upper line, or lower so I can't answer the poll. --Dave. manitcor Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 IIRC you can also tap the signal wire on the connector to the trans itself, the PCM gets this signal and your gauge should be able to read it as well without throwing a code or messing up the PCM reading. Quote
Garrett Powered Posted August 7, 2005 Author Report Posted August 7, 2005 Are you saying there is already a temp. sensor on it? Quote
DaveFromColorado Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 not on a 1990 - on the newer cars there is, but I don't believe there is on the older ones. --Dave. Quote
