Changed my Trans Filter and more

Today I changed my Trans filter. I've never done it before so I figured it was time (had the fluid flushed about 28k ago but no filter change).

It was very easy! I was surprised. lol

And my trans must be in good shape since my pan was pretty clean.

As a side project, since I had the pan off, I wanted to shim my accumulator springs for firmer shifts. Bought some ~2" washers. I put 3 shims under each spring. Too bad I put the Accumulator springs back in the wrong spots! My 2-3 shift is firmer than the 1-2 shift. Oh well They're both firmer than before. I do like the 2-3 shift firmness better though. I'll have to rip it apart again sometime and switch the springs back.

Here are all the pics that I took today

Yuck, nice brownish-red fluid like every other W-body I've ever seen. I think these cars' trannies run a bit on the hot side.

Did you get any in your hair? I always do!

I usually just take a bath in it.

Looks like your tranny's in good shape! I bet someone on here's jealous <cough>C-Bad<cough> .

That's the great thing about most used Buicks: Old people owned them previously and maintained them religiously...

4t60-e? so how do you do that? i mean the washers in the springs?

Take the accumulator assembly out, pull the caps off, let springs fall out, put washers on the bottom of the springs, but caps back on, reinstall accumulator assembly

so, is that something thats common(adding the washers)...cause I never heard of anyone doing that

They got a nice write up for 4T65's on clubgp, search the drivetrain section for diy shift kit.
