Supreme Cutlass Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Which K&N intake kit will fit an Olds Cutlass Supreme S 3.1L? Quote
Euro Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 none are made specifically for the 3.1. you'll have to use some autozone intake tubing for a Honda Civic, and make a cone fit Quote
MonteC Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 isnt there a drop in k&n filter for the stock box? Quote
Robby1870 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 isnt there a drop in k&n filter for the stock box? Yeah, there is, but he is wondering about those K&N performance intake kits...like Fuel Injection Performance Kit or something like that. Its a filter and piping up to the throttle body. But, they dont make the kits for us, just the filter Quote
Supreme Cutlass Posted August 1, 2005 Author Report Posted August 1, 2005 Bottom line; I hate having to get around the stupid airbox to unplug the battery, etc. I want to put something in that will let me move around in there a lil more (and quicker too) and gain some performance while i'm at it. I was thinking of getting that tubing from autozone and rigging up a cold air intake, but the tubing just doesn't seem like it would supply good airflow... Quote
Euro Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 just go all out and do a FWI...those cheap ass WAI's arent good for anything but looks Quote
dave31 Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Why not just relocate your battery? maybe to the trunk? Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 there's a CAI kit available from Milzy Motorsports for a 95+ Monte 3100. I talked briefly with Manticor about it on MyMonte. Anyone on here who doesn't mind a battery relocation and has a 3100 should be able to use it. With a little modification you might be able to use it on a 3.1, but I'm not sure. Someone like Manticor would be better qualified to answer that question. I was going to get one, but I'm keeping my setup as is b/c i'm not sure if I'll be keeping the cutty or not when I get the G6 in the spring. I can try and find a link if ppl are interested in the CAI. Let me know. Quote
94cutlatized Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 i'll just go custom CAI if i were u, muffler shops have machinery to bend aluminum. Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 i'll just go custom CAI if i were u, muffler shops have machinery to bend aluminum. why do that when you'll end up paying more (probably) and the milzy one has dyno results. Atleast when you get the Milzy one, you know what to expect. Chances are, a shop won't do it any better when they're not familar with our cars. Milzy is very familiar with them, so I'd trust his product that has a proven result over a custom fabrication with unknown results anyday. Quote
MonteC Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 what if you dont want to relocate your battery? what kind of piping/tubing to you guys use? Quote
Grand Moff Joseph Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 I thought someone had said at some point that you can't do a FWI without moving the battery... Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 I thought someone had said at some point that you can't do a FWI without moving the battery... with our cars you can't have a true CAI without removing the battery. It keeps the intake from getting the "coldest" air. Otherwise, it's just a short WAI that we've had quite a controversy about. We've had numerous dyno discussions about it, but ultimately everyone has agreed that having a CAI will produce the best results. So, ultimately the answer is you must move the battery if you want a CAI. Quote
MonteC Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 i dont really care about hp increases. i just want a flow increase, will a wai or whatever increase my flow for better gas mileage? Quote
JoroCorona Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Meh, to hell with a CAI. Just take the airbox off and run without a hood. Instant cold air. Quote
z34_nut Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Meh, to hell with a CAI. Just take the airbox off and run without a hood. Instant cold air. and dirt. Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Meh, to hell with a CAI. Just take the airbox off and run without a hood. Instant cold air. that has to be one of the stupidest performance suggestions I have ever read. Engines don't need any sort of air filtration whatsoever to keep crap out of them... Quote
digitaloutsider Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 I THINK it was a joke.. Sarcasm > yu0 Quote

joey b Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 increased flow will result in more gas used. Your car still needs to keep the correct A/F mixture. Give it more air and it will need more fuel. Quote
soapsuds22 Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Go to rsmracing.com and click on catalog. They have intakes listed for cutlasses and they list it as either 3.1 or 3100. I don't know much about w bodies but it couldn't hurt to check it out. the intake lists at 160.00 they have throttle bodies and upper and lower intake manifolds as well. Quote
