96GranSport Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Gotcha. I sort of figured I'd have to do some drilling. Thought maybe I'd missed a hole or something. And, to be honest, it would be a hell of a lot easier to ground that way. Thanx. Quote
cutlsp Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 I know how to find a good ground point on a car but i have to remove some of the paint to make it have great contact. I also put dielectric grease between the metal and the grounding point so i know the connection is water proof. Quote
Garrett Powered Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 correct, dielectric grease, or the red battery terminal protector grease. the stuff you can now buy ketchup packets of it at the counter at Autozone. Quote
cutlsp Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Yeah the reason i did that i noticed my spare tire well holds a tiny bit of water and my carpet is normally wet after it rains i figured i would seal my ground so it stays good. Quote
cutlass1991 Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 this might be a dumb question, but are the gains on your amp turned all the way up? I know I had that problem and I tried everything, rcas, filters, better grounds, etc... I ended up just turning the gains down until I couldn't hear the noise anymore. Most HUs have a Line level adjustment to compensate for the lower volume. Quote
