THe_DeTAiL3R
Could be a wheel bearing

pitzel
Probably a case of seized calipers and/or slightly warped rotors. I had the problem, ended up pulling the calipers, pushing them in with the special rotation tool, bleeding, and the problem went away. If you can't turn the hub/rotor assembly when the wheel is off freely, by hand, then it definitely is an issue with the brakes.
DaveFromColorado
I've seen this happen DOZENS of times - hit the hub of the rotor (not the bearing hub) with a heavy hammer a few times, spin the thing a bit, and hit a few more times and shake the rotor opposite of the where the caliper is - what happens with the W's (or many of the GM's actually) is they will build up rust between the rotor and the hub, hitting it with the hammer will loosen the rust up, and then shaking the rotor by hand opposite of the caliper will allow the rust to fall out. on 90% of the w's I've worked on with that problem, that's been the fix. --Dave. DiscoStudd
Are you sure that your lugnuts are tight?
Hairdo12
I have brand new everything on the rear and I now get that noise at low speeds. Sometimes it goes away but i think it might just be a slight warp in the rotor because when the wheel is raised up off the ground and you give it a good spin it will spin then drag for like a tenth turn then spin and drag for a tenth turn. Noise pisses me off sometimes but it goes away as the brake heats up.
willsv8
this is going to sound real stupid but i went to the car wash to clean the back brakes to look at them and now the sound went away it's been like 3 day's now ? was there to much brake dust that did this ? did not wash the car for like 4 weeks in that time is when this all started? what do you think thanks
Dannymik
Could be a wheel bearing wheel bearing...don't you hear a humming noise when that happens?
DaveFromColorado
I say try my thought to fix it and let us know what happens - a lot of times it's just some rust built up causing the rotor to sit a little unevenly making strange noise issues. --Dave. rubenyc
My car ('90 Lumina 3.1) does this too, but on the LR wheel. I took the wheel off yesterday and I think it's the inside brake pad that's causing it. I know they're supposed to be somewhat loose but mine seems VERY loose. Also when I turn my wheel it does the same as Hairdo12's: turns freely but drags very slightly on a small part of a turn. But even if my rotor is a little warped, the inside pad is not supposed to get up get down and shake it all around, is it? Anyway, I'll try Dave's suggestion and let you know if it helped. :-)
