whats a good company to go with high compression pistons? and does anyone make parts to build a stronger bottom end for a 3100? In the near future i want to build a 3100 with a cam and slightly higher compression plus a little nitrous. so if anyone knows what brand combo i should go with let me know, thanks

RSM is the only place I know of that makes those types of products for the 3100. Sadly we've got basically no aftermarket unless you've got some serious $$$.

also they are just pistons, you can call up jegs or any other major supplier and just give them the dimensions you need and they will prob have them or something close that can be machined to the neccassary specs.

Doesn't the 3100 (and all 60*s for that matter) have strong bottem ends stock? I've never heard of any blowing up...

*cough*

yeah, as far as boost goes they have reliable taken 12psi so far on stock bottom ends without much trouble.

Though HGs tend to go so if your doing boost you may want to look into teflon coated copper HGs

I would not be worrying about bottom end reliability. Yes odd things happen to engines but when things get old and/or abused for a long period of time, you have to expect that. The oiling system is also different on the 3x00 as the mains get priority in oiling vs the Vin T/V blocks that goes to the lifters first. How high of a compression do you want? If you use pistons from the iron headed 3.1 (Camaro) you'll be in the 11.5:1 range. These pistons can be had off the shelf, and if you go with Sealed Power pistons, you get teflon coated skirts.
