Mystery part (to me anyway)

All,

I noticed that there is a plug of sorts that looks like it could be screwed in more. If you're looking at the engine bay, follow the intake up to where the EGR is. Just past that, right next to the plenum is a plug.

I'm not sure what this is but it screws in, and some of the threading is exposed and has some light rust on it, as if it was screwed in at one point, but has since come loose. Any ideas on what this is and whether or not this could be causing the SES light to go on? I have a not so hot picture, but I can't figure out how to post it so if you want to see it, PM me with your e-mail address and I'll get it to you.

Thanks,

Kevin

If you don't wanna sign up at photobucket, you can go here: http://tinypic.com but you'll need to post JUST the LINK to the pic, since the IMG tags woun't work.

Wow, you weren't kidding about the pic being not-so-hot!!!

Anyway, I think the thing isn't a plug, but a vacuum fitting for the vacuum modulator on the tranny. If it were out too far, it would be a vacuum leak. I'm not at home so I can't check how far out that fitting is on my cars. I don't think it would cause any problem to see if it will turn in any more.

Try tightening it up it wont hurt anything and check on the vacuum modulator end for cracks in the rubber boot

Sorry about the hijack, but does that mean that I have a problem? I only have a little rubber cap on mine... e93f19a0.jpg

... I think I recognize that schrader valve!

I don't think you've got a problem - IIRC that was one of the vacuum ports used for the auto trans.
