My 94 cuttlas sl, is not running like before, when its cold and i start it, i wont idle and the rpms go really low, and then back to normal, but it wonts stay in one place until the engine is warm, i changed the fuel filter and it didnt fix the problem, also when this happens and i try to take off, i hit the gas and it wont respond, it's like if the car was not getting enough fuel, and it wants to turn off, but it doesnt. The exhaust gases have a gasoline smell to it? anyone with this problem and solved it, please help me out

should be on the fuel rail somewhere. i would at least do that and check codes before you start throwing money at it. check to see if you are getting good spark too.

yeah reading codes on the '94 requires a scan tool. i have the same problem with my OBD 1.5 '94 Bonneville :(

best of luck

A bad map sensor will usually cause that kind of problem. I know I broke the vacuum line once, didnt know it, and the car ran like crap, dumping fuel. Just a thought though, check that stuff Josh mentioned first

I replaced my fuel pressure regulator approx 2 months ago. The car had an extremely long crank time. Fixed that problem. The car cranks like half a crank and its turned over.

My mechanic did it for me and charged me like $175 for parts and labour.

well, guys, problem fixed, so i took the car to get a high flo cat not before, but just after the muffler, (sounds relly nice) when the car was in the air, i noticed a god damm sensor just there, unconnected, so there i was looking up like a dumbas searching for the connector, then i found it, it was alittle bit above the oil filter and the sensor fits in a connector on the engine block, can anyone tell me what that was by the way? its a lillte oval sensor with one wire and one male pin. I turned the car and noticed it turned right away, so i tought that the cat had done it good. When i was backing off to leave, i noiced something wasnt right, but it was good that it wasnt right u know cause the car responded like crazy, i put it in drive, and daammmm i coulndt believe it, for reals people, the car hauls ass now, the first thing i did was call my friend with a 97 16 sec. flat malibu, and raced him, i left the guy about 3/4 off the car behind, im so happy. MY friend has a cold air intake and some muffler, i have a short ram intake high flow cat and the racing dynomax muffler with dual exhaust. THanks alot everybody!
