excelsior
My fav. w body of all time as i have posted before is the 2 door 88-96 Regal. However, as many on here know, i have an affinity for the mn-12 chassis(89-97 T-bird/cougar). Would it be easier/cheaper/get a faster product for eithier doing a swap on the regal(think the new 5.3 v8 going into the bonnie/gp) and building that up or buying an mn-12 and dropping a ford small block in there and building that up. Performance goal = mid-high 13's. Anyways, post responses. BTW, i will be graduating college in a year....marriage probably (hopefully with the girl im with) shortly after that. Prospeeder
well, the 5.3 would swap ALOT easier thana freaking ford V8, scince the 5.3 goes in the wbody's, im sure with a little work u could sqeeze it in, but the problem is, in 97 thry redesinged the w-body platforms so it was wider, and then evern wider in 200, so that might be a problem
sl3196
L67 would be a cheaper swap...

GnatGoSplat
RWD cars are always cheaper/easier to mod and far more aftermarket available.
excelsior
thats what i was afraid of....edit: Not a big fan of turbo/s/c applications unless it is turbocharging a 4 cylinder or an oldbuick
Dannymik
you can get a L36 into the low 14's easily with enough cash(since your not a L67) fan...I'm not sure about 13's though.
fastbird232
Well, you'd need an '89-'93 5.0 MN-12 to do an easy motor swap (AED tranny). After that you'd need a transmission mangement system, because the later 4R70Ws were electronic (although I'm sure you know this anyway). And even then, you've got a 12-16 year old car. Personally, what I'd do is snag a nice '97 T-Bird Sport, do the PI heads and intake swap with a supercharger, J-mod the tranny (with Marauder T/C), and go from there. Hell, a 5.4 DOHC swap isn't completely out of the question, either, and would probably be better off than a 5.3 LS2 swap in a Regal. Are you registered at TCCoA.com, by any chance? SigEpCutlass
L67 would be a cheaper swap... yea that and you could get into the 13's. People have done it. There's a guy on MM that has a high 13sec Monte LS with a l67.
fastbird232
Here's a decent link: http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.php?t=67380 Poke around the "5.0L & 5.8L" forum, there's some good info.
excelsior
well i was thinking if i went with the post 93 tbird, then perhaps a 4.6 dohc swap might be easier to be able to do although im not entirely sure how much specific changes there are between the old old 4.6 sohc & the 4.6 dohc or possibly swap in one of the new mustang engines. gp90se
get the t-bird, drop a 496 outta a chev pickup into it, and be on your marry way. isnt a hard swap either.

Just out of curiosity, what makes a Chevy engine in a Ford not a difficult swap?
gp90se
other then making motor mounts and tranny mount, the rest of it falls pretty well into place. there is a wiring harness already made for universal applications v8 downpipes can be moved back (iirc 1 1/2"), have a driveshaft made and your hoses connected, all done. To top it off, it fits in the engine bay quite well.
GnatGoSplat
Oh, so you'd have to swap the GM tranny too? The only decent Ford would be one with a GM engine.

excelsior
Actually, i would probably go Mercury....why the downer on the Ford engine choices? Ive heard alot of good things about the 302......and why a downer on the Buick V8 swap? Is there a non-l67 engine with alot of potential that is fwd compatible? Should i look at another project lol
fastbird232
See if one of those new Northstar superchargers will fit a FWD engine, and put one of those in.
