19Cutlass94 Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Well Im going to be putting a custom exhaust on the cutty, and wondering what muffler I should use to get a nice sound. Nothing ricey or like that, but like a nice deep tone. Nto to many mods have been done to the engine, dont know if that really matters or not. I want to try and stick with the 2.25" pipe, unless you think a 2.5" pipe would make a difference. But as of now, Im deciding between flowmaster and magnaflow. Im not sure what one to go with because Ive never heard em before on a car similar to mine, heard em on muscle cars, but thats different. Anyone have any recomendations or anything I should stay away from because it would sound like poop. Not really to concerned about Hp. But I think you know what Im talking about, just a nice tone, something to make it "grumble" a lil bit if possible, because I dont like the stock setup, plus its time for it to be replaced. Thanks guys/gals Quote
Euro Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 personally i think flowmaster is too raspy, and dynomax super turbo(what ive got) is cheap...$45....and sounds badass people also say magnaflow is nice, but they're expensive although ive been trying to see what a SLP loudmouth muffler/resonater would be like on mine Quote
JMo60 Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 im using 2 cheapo resonators, and i get lots of compliments on the low grumbly v-8 type tone., just get 12 inch glasspacks, flow well, sound good. i love em on my 3100 Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted July 27, 2005 Author Report Posted July 27, 2005 I dont wanna get like glass packs or anything, and I want to remove the resonator, not add more. But right now its between magnaflow and flowmaster. Whats basically the difference in sound? Quote
94cutlatized Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 hello people, i put DYNOMAX BULLET racing muffler, the 16 inch one not the 24 inch, removed the cat from its place, u know that bulk of steel on the down pipe, that easily cloggs up, i put a performance high flo cat about 4 inches after the muffler which was placed in the middle of the car, then a y- pipe to get duals on each side, yes in front of the rear tire, it looks very nice, gotten lots of compliments and the sound from both tips is incredibly nice, its a low grumble in idle, and when u hit the gas is not ricer at all, it's a nice deep sound with the bullet, i think its about 58 bucks at autozone, i got z-28 tips bye the way, they look nice and match the boxy look of the car. Crimson Fury Z Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 selling my magnaflow aluminized 2.5 inlet & outlet 5x8 muffler for $90 if you are interested. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted August 18, 2005 Author Report Posted August 18, 2005 Kind of bringing up an old topic here, but does anyone have the dynomax ultr flow SS mufflers? I was thinking about buying them since I get can get it cheap. It would be with 2" mandral bend pipe, and maybe I might remove the resonator after I hear it with the muffler on. Quote
94cutlatized Posted August 18, 2005 Report Posted August 18, 2005 Daammm check out that ss muffler, looks nice man. Must sound good. I have the 4th one down, the bullet, it sound good with that, it might sound better with the ultr flo ss, since it hass little bit of more restriction. http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers.stm Quote
Calvin Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 DON"T get a 40 series Flowmaster. I made that mistake with my Grand Prix and it is WAAAAYY too raspy, to the point where ricers keep trying to pick a race with my otherwise 100% stock car. Quote

Have you ever even HEARD a loudmouth? Holy shit.. raspiest shit i've ever heard in my entire life. Quote
sonyman87 Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 Flowmaster 50s sound nice and 40s will sound bad ass 2 if you replace your resignator with a magnaflow strait through or something similar. glasspack? Quote
Turbo231 Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 I enjoy Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. As always, I've created a web page with more details. I'll be replacing one soon as it has rusted out. http://members.aol.com/regal231/muffler.htm Ben Quote

19Cutlass94 Posted August 21, 2005 Author Report Posted August 21, 2005 I remember someone on here posted a sound clip/video of there car idleing and taking off at 2500RPM with dual flowmaster 40 series. Sounded good at idle, but when he took off, kinda sounded to me like he has no mufflers/mufflers where shot. They sound good, I just dont think on the V6's. Ive been thinking dynomax because we have them here at work, and everyone seems to love the ones they have. I was looking into the ultra-flo SS. But Ill look into those super turbo. But the Ultra-flow SS flows 1000cfm. Compared to the Super turbo that flows 410cfm. Basically just want something that give it a nice deep tone, no fart can or anything and will sound really good, not like the exhaust is shot. Quote
Euro Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 that was probably Kevin's old cutty(now 93cuttysupreme's car) Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted August 22, 2005 Author Report Posted August 22, 2005 yeah that was it! sounded good at idle in the little vid but when he took off, didnt sound too hot. Although it prolly sounds better in real life next to the car though.... Quote
88Regal Limited Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 borla has a nice low rumble and SCREEMS at WOT. Quote
