GP1138 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Ok, so I'm installing the new alternator bracket, and trying to diagnose my misfiring problem. I forgot to plug in the alternator plug, the positive wire was on it fine, but it's unplugged otherwise. I have an Optima Red Top battery, so the car started and ran fine, still misfired, but no SES light, no battery light, no nothing. WTF? I got home, popped the hood, noticed the alt was unplugged, plugged it in and my idle lowered some. I'm not sure if that makes sense or not. Quote
Robby1870 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Ive never understood what that plug actually did. Im guessing it involves the voltage regulator and how much power is drawn, so it would make sense that idle decreased once the plug was plugged in and a load was needed to be drawn Quote
