GP1138 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Does anyone have any idea whether or not '01 3400 injectors have a different flow rate than '95 3100 injectors? In continuing to chase down the problem with my Grand Prix, I'm really wondering if there's an injector short going on, and I'm thinking about splicing the 3400 injectors and fuel rail in place of my 3100's originals. Robby1870 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Im gonna guess that they do, given the larger displacement and larger intake valve on the 3400. I dont know for sure, but it would make sense that the 3400 would have a higher flow rate. Quote
GP1138 Posted July 25, 2005 Author Report Posted July 25, 2005 I just don't wanna kill my fuel pump. Quote
Robby1870 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 have you checked cross referenced the part numbers for a fuel pump from say a 01 Grand Am and your car? Quote
GP1138 Posted July 25, 2005 Author Report Posted July 25, 2005  Well, the fuel pump for my car is $67, and for an '01 Alero/Grand Am it's $229!! Quote
Robby1870 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 yeah, I just found that out too! Im doing some more looking around for ya Quote
Robby1870 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Here's some sources http://www.60degreev6.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3224&highlight=3400+injector+flow+rate http://www.60degreev6.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=2998&highlight=3400+injector+flow+rate All in all, 3400 ~22.5 lbs/hr and 3100 ~18.5 lbs/hr Quote
GP1138 Posted July 25, 2005 Author Report Posted July 25, 2005 Damn, well I guess I'll just have to try something else. Thanks a lot, Robby! Quote
Robby1870 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 no problem man! I dont think they would hurt your pump, but it'll make it run rich....although Aaron thinks otherwise. Quote
slick Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 I had thought you were running your 3100 injectors as it was. If I were you, I would go ahead and swap all that onto your car. It will probably run just a bit smoother. Quote
GP1138 Posted July 25, 2005 Author Report Posted July 25, 2005 I was running 3100 injectors. Although all this is moot now, check my "Sputtering, Missing and Dying" thread for the conclusion to the misfire problem!!! (Really this time) Quote
