Guest Anonymous Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 alright, this is the first time you guys have seen me here, and you more than likely won't see me here again (or at least, very little). this forum was suggested to me on another forum. so i have a 2000 grand prix gt. a friend of mine just recently gave me his flowmaster 4 series muffler. 42-443, i think it is. basically meant for 92-98 mustangs (or something like that, i dunno exactly). if i wanted to use it, i'd have to buy another one, because i have 2 mufflers with cast-iron tips, which of course won't weld to the aluminum. my question is, how does the 4 series sound, and would it be good with my car? my car isn't impressive enough to have a sound that says "hey look at me". but i do want my car to sound good. as you probably know, it's a 3.8 liter V6. and i have an aftermarket fully-functional ram-air hood. so, is the 4-series flowmaster what i really want? Quote
Kalgorn Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 No. I definately do not recommend a Flowmaster on anything less than a V8. I don't recommend it on anything, but it will sound like ass on a V6. It will even slightly hurt your performance. Flowmasters aren't the greatest flowing mufflers. You'll have a "hey look at me" sound but they'll be looking at you trying to figure out why your car sounds like shit. If you're up for spending the money, either go with a set of Magnaflows or find a company that makes a cat-back (SLP?). Magnaflow might even make one... not sure. Quote
frusciante fan Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 just got two Cherry Bomb turbo mufflers for my new exhaust and they sound really nice. not too loud, not ricey, and great feel. i've got a 3.8 as well. Quote

frusciante fan Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 they're actually not that loud. it's the G7150 model. it's not a glasspack or anything. Quote

Anyway, I like the hood on that, is that one of those PFYC SD hoods? "fuckinshit" was already taken on photobucket. lol anyways, it's a hood that came from SLP. it's fully funtional ram air that i have leading to a k&n filter. it's the only mod on my car for now. i want to put exhaust on it, and a supercharger (or turbo) to make my gt into a gtp. but, i don't have that kind of money at the moment. Dannymik Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 GMPP makes a catback system that is common with the GT/GTP crowd, not sure on the price though. Quote

Put a turbo on it. Lots of GTP guys are ditching their SCers in favor of turbos and getting better performance. From what I've read they have been getting a little bit better 1/4mile times, but overall more power And lots of GT guys are doing this too.. Quote
frusciante fan Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 you'd be better of just getting something with a bigger engine than adding a turbo. Quote
Kalgorn Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 you'd be better of just getting something with a bigger engine than adding a turbo. Uhh, no? What if they happen to like the Grand Prix platform? Or happen to be a big fan of the 3800 Series II (or even Series III) engine? Why would they get another car? Quote

frusciante fan Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 it doesn't seem practical to spend that much on it, unless you've got the money. Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 You're right.. he's got a 3800 just like you.. VETTE-EATERS! Quote
frusciante fan Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 true, true. but yeah i didn't mean to offend anybody. just in my opinion that's a lot to shell out. Quote
