DRGrocho
I am going to be installing an ED 9.1 amp and a Jensen 460w amp into my 99Lumina in the near future, and I am wondering if I need to do anything to make sure that my electrical system isn't going to crap out. I plan to change the big three, but I am wondering if that is going to be enough. 9.1 amp -----> http://edesignaudio.com/category.php?type=amps Jensen amp ------> http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=13672&langId=-

Take it step by step in case it is all you need and so that you can see how much of a benifit you have by doing it. I was in a very similar situation. But I ended upgrading everything, I first did the "Big 3", Then put in a Optima Red Top, Then when my alternator crapped out I decided to get a higher output version as well. Then after that was all said and done, I still had a bit of dimming happening. So I bought a 2 farad capacitor and intstalled it(wouldnt recommend this unless all other steps have been taken). And everything is excellent now. Good choice in the ED amp by the way!!
DRGrocho
yeah, i like that 9.1. I am only using the Jensen because I already have it, and I am just amping my mid and high range speakers with it.
Nick1234
Also, I have not installed subs below 6x9's before. Would it be beneficial to enclose the 6x9's in some way so that there is no cancellation effect? Edit: Sorry, I am on the wrong account, just assume it is Drgrocho
Puggsley456
I wouldnt worry about cancelation........I would worry about breaking the 6x9's due to the amount of air pressure in the trunk. I went throught 2 sets on my car over a period of 4 years until I finally pulled them right out to let the trunk vent into the cabin. If you have the ability to do so.....a enclosure of some sort around the 6x9's would be a good idea.
Garrett Powered
I would not even use the woofer on the 6 by 9s if you are going to put a sub in. Just x it out on the deck or the mid amp and only run highs out of em. Then they will just be in there as baffles and wont pop when you turn it up. Thats what I am doing with mine until I glass in some Boston 8" subs on the back deck there.
