94cutlatized
hey peeps, I am trying to lower my car from the back, it seems to have some sort of fiberglass arm that goes acros and provides the scock i guess, it only has schocks, it does not have springs, has anybody succesfully dropped their cutlass from the rear. In autozone, they have these springs that they sell that should fit around the shocks, will it work? or is there another way?

Guest TurboSedan
the Birchmount and Flex-a-Form mono-leaf spring simply replaces the stock transverse mounted monoleaf spring and lowers the rear of the car too. from what i have seen, the FAF spring barely lowers the car at all, and other people with the Birchmount spring have complained of a rough ride. you could remove the stock monoleaf spring completely and get FFP coilovers. that's basically what i did, but i am using a now-discontinued set of rear coilovers that were made by TDC. coilover conversions have there own disadvantages though, namely spring noise. the biggest problem i have with the coilovers is that stupid set screw that is used to keep the lower spring mount in place. compare all of your options before dishing out the $$$. pwmin
get another set of rings and use the two together and that will eliminate the problem with the set screws. i dont know what i would do again. im not too happy about the coilovers but i cant complain for the price i paid but i dont like the idea of having a metal spring in the back to replace the stock fiberglass one and the faf is def out although it might be good to have a second opinion but i cant see spending 300 to do that
