test4echo
Maybe this help someone out with that rear bolt. The easy way..... Get Alt cooling ducking pushed back as far as you can. Guide a long 10mm wrench onto the back bolt. Pic basically says it all..... Using this method, its 10 second job to get it out. Personally I found the Tie rod removal and sub-frame lowering to be quickest and easiest way to get the Alt out from the car. Hope that helps someone.. PS, I should mention, Guide the wrench onto the rear bolt with your hand first. You may need a longer than standard 10mm wrench. A short one won't work. It will not poke out from behind the alt if its not long enough. After you have done that, Then you can carefully guide the ratchet extention into the Box end of the wrench. Should be able to crack the bolt and finger lossen it the rest of the way. Its only a short bolt, so, won't take but a few turns. slick
Did you follow my little write-up I wrote? I was able to do my alt. in 45 minutes.
test4echo
Did you follow my little write-up I wrote? I was able to do my alt. in 45 minutes. Sure did!! Worked great! Thanks. However, it might be usefull to add some side notes about problems that can be experienced along the way. Mostly Noob problems but, it may help even further to have solutions to issues one may run ito while using your write up. Such as, what to do IF: Your tie rods are stuck, How to get the rear bolt out, How to lossen the Sub frame bolts if PB Blaster ain't working. How far to lower the sub frame....etc...that kind of stuff. Your write up was perfect, it was the little issues along the way that gave me the most trouble. GnatGoSplat
Is that only necessary if you don't pull the axle? I pulled the axle when I did my alt and I didn't need any funky getup like that.
