MonteCarloChick Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Is there any way that you can dye an air filter without ruining the airflow properties? Thanks.. Quote
MonteCarloChick Posted July 18, 2005 Author Report Posted July 18, 2005 Sorry.. it was a serious question... Quote
jeremy Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 I was trying to give you a serious answer I have no idea if you could do it Quote
slick Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Just curious, but why die your air filter? Anyways, the only filters that my may be able to die are the ones that you can clean. The cheapo Autozone cone filters are not rechargeable, therefore, I don't recommend dying them. Quote
MonteCarloChick Posted July 18, 2005 Author Report Posted July 18, 2005 It's not for me... just asking for another Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Shes prolly asking because maybe someone wants to paint it to go along with underhood details, but who knows thats just my guess, but anways, there are some air filters that you can buy in different colors, although not very many. Ive seen yellow, blue, red, white, orange. What kind of color are you looking to paint or dye it? Quote
MonteCarloChick Posted July 19, 2005 Author Report Posted July 19, 2005 Well it's going to be built into the hood and not really sure about the color but I think they want black Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 I do believe some of the filters APC has are black. Quote
Dannymik Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 did you label the filter as rice for whoever its for? Knowing you from this board I would think you made some kind of comment about it! Quote
EurosportZ34 Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 air filters come in different colors...i'm sure somebody out there makes one in the color you want Quote
bartonmd Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 If it's a cloth filter (Like K&N or something), yes, you can use RIT die on it, just like you'd die cloth or something... Also, just FYI for those who don't know, K&N filter material (Gauze) is white, it's the oil that's red... So if you use a more clear oil on it, you could probably die it any color you want, not just black... Mike Quote
