Filter change interval

Filter change interval on my 92 CS 3.1 is spec'ed in the manual at 15,000 miles.

Any compelling reason why I should change the oil filter earlier? Or run the filter longer, ie: 25,000 miles?

I change my oil filter everytime I change my oil which is at every 3k religiously.

My air filter gets replaced when it is dirty, fuel filter every 15-20k, and pcv everytime I do a fuelfilter as well.

I dont listen to the manuals, never have really. Some people may differ with me though.

Change the oil filter at every oil change. $3 could save you $3000.

I just clean my air filters, but I also use K&Ns (Well, off brands...). And I really don't change my fuel filters, cuz I hate it when I get gas on myself...lol. j/k I do change them, I'd say every 20k or so.

At Thifty car rental we they change them at 3k the first time and then 6k every time after that.

I always change my oil filter, oil at 3000 miles.

My change intervals:

Oil - every 3k

Tranny - every 9k

Fuel - every year (approx 10k miles)

Air - K&N that is cleaned when it looks semi dirty

oil/filter (when ya change the oil, you change the filter, thats a given)- 3k miles

Tranny - 30k

cooling - 30k

brake pads -30k

p/s fluid - 100k

fuel -

Why you wouldnt change a filter when changing the oil is beond me, you can put many more miles on oil then ya can a filter.

I suggest changing it everytime you change the oil. As Aaron said $3 can save you $3000.

I change my oil every 3000 miles or whenever I'm bored, whichever comes first

Yeah, If you're not going to change the filter with the oil, you might as well not change the oil either. Its only a few extra twists of the wrist to change the filter.

well i'm up to 10k miles, almost 2 years, on my existing fill of oil and it looks just as clean as it did when I poured it in. I am not dumping out perfectly good oil just because some old redneck or quickie-lube says 3k miles/3 months. Oil and filters are damn expensive here in Canada, we don't have $1 Supertech filters at Wal-Mart.

has anyone actually cut open a filter and determined that the 15k mile recommendation given in the manual is innappropriate?
