hot engine

So I drove a couple hours tonight (start of a small road trip) and it seems that my engine is running hotter than normal. It's running around 235-245 and sometimes when driving slower like after I get off the freeway it gets up to 250 (and starts flashing at me) I look a bit low on coolant, but it seems that I might be leaking some over on the drivers side by the radiator. its not coming from the hoses or anything, but i can see a bit of it right below where the hose connects to the top of the rad. any idea what might cause this? or do I just need to make sure I have enough coolant, or what?

you'd have to replace the radiator if that's the actual problem in that car.

I'd recomend takin' the radiator out of the car and havin' it tested at a shop - they can either rebuild yours, or replace it right there too if it is bad.

most people don't do this, but whenever I replace a radiator in any of my cars, I always replace the hoses and the thermostat at the same time, it's cheap insurance, and after all, you've got pleanty of access to them, and your cooling system has already been drained so you won't spill any more coolant.

I'd probably park it personally, once you have a leak, it's only going to get worse, not better - however if you need to drive it, I'm sure you can still get away with it..

i see u have a 94, i also have one, if u have a 3.1 like i do, and its ur radiator thats bad, i recommend an upgrade, heat kills ur 1/4 mile times and ur engine, ok never mind u have a 3.4 twin, anyways i recommend another radiator, a bigger one i got a new one from a 4.0 litter engine, from ford i think, it fit right in and its twice as thick, i am running at allitle over 175 degrees with the a/c on and 95 degree outside weather. I think that u shouldnt have a problem with fitting in a bigger radiator, DONT drive ur car, u dont want to blow ur head gasket, and u have a twin cam, so its very expensive, 235 to 240 degrees is not even normal, so dont risk it. that radiator upgrade is a do it yourselfer, so u can save some money ;)
