THe_DeTAiL3R
Since I don't think I have the heart to sell my GP for cheap I'll probably be stuck with the car till I kill it.. so I'm wondering how feasable would a 5-speed swap be? I know my car has the bastard OBD 1.5 system what would really be required to put one in? My 3100 would probably tear 3800s a new one with a better tranny.... I'll find out this Saturday if my 4T60e is repairable or if it is just a matter of time before it craps out and will require a new tranny. How much would a 5-speed cost to put in? Would any shops actually be able/willing to do it? I don't really have the tools/time/space/knowledge to really do it myself. Hope this isn't a repost BTW..
gp90se
worst case, going from obd 1.5 to plain old obd1 is very simple, just need a harness and an ECU, I think the interior harness is the same.
THe_DeTAiL3R
I just phoned yup Mr Transmission again to ask about the cost of tranny swap and the guy didn't really recommend doing it due to cost. He said that a donor vehicle would be needed (which I don't have and would be very hard to find one around here) and he would be able to order the parts but it would be $$$. They can do it but again the cost would be $$$$$$. I explained the situation with my tranny and he said that *ALL* repairs get a 5year/lots of miles (forget) warrantee.. which is awsome. I'll probably be best just repairing the problem- and take it to the track right after!!!
Canada
Theres been a seferal of people swap 282s in their 94-96 (both OBD systems) Berettas....both using 3100 and 3400s. He is right though, it would be best to find a parts car.....maybe there is one in the junkyard than you can constantly buy parts off.....or just buy an entire car from eBay.
